KANSAS CITY, Kan. - The Kansas City T-Bones announced that they have traded infielder Matt Padgett and pitcher Lucas Irvine to New Jersey of the Can-Am League for four players to be named later.

Padgett, 36, who was the American Association/PointStreak Hitter of the Month for July, has been near the top of several league offensive categories all season. Currently, Padgett is batting .337 (tied for fourth in the league) with 19 home runs (third), 33 doubles (first), 66 RBIs (tied-third), 58 walks (third), 54 extra-base hits (first) and a .650 slugging percentage (first).

Irvine, 24, is in the top five in the league in ERA (2.96, third), strikeouts (94, fifth), complete games (3, tied-second) and innings pitched (121 2/3, second).

"Matt and Luke, obviously, have been tremendous for us this season and I have an incredible amount of respect for each of them," said T-Bones manager Kenny Hook. "On one hand, because of their personal accomplishments, this was a difficult move. But this is a chance for them to finish the season in a playoff race, while making a trade that can help us in 2014."
