Winnipeg Scores Early In 9-3 Win Over X's

Sioux City-----Winnipeg scored nine runs in the first four innings as they defeated the Explorers 9-3 Tuesday at Lewis and Clark Park.

After scoring two runs in the first, the Goldeyes added five runs in the second inning aided by three Explorers errors. The final two runs for Winnipeg came in the fourth as they sped off to a 9-0 lead.

The Explorers picked up their first run in the bottom of the fourth when Sam Judah led off the frame with a single, extending his hitting streak to eight. He later scored on an infield out by Yusuke Inoguchi. The X's would add their final two runs in the fifth on three consecutive hits and a RBI double by Anthony Kaskadden and an RBI single by Judah.

Jason Jarvis pitched five and one third innings and suffered his tenth loss of the season as the Explorers lost their fourth straight. Newly signed pitcher Mike Jefferson pitched the final three and two third innings and did not allow a hit or a walk and struck out three in his first appearance with the Explorers.

The third game of the four-game series between the Explorers and Winnipeg will be Wednesday at Lewis and Clark Park with game time set for 7:05pm.
