Sioux City-----The Winnipeg Goldeyes scored two runs in the ninth inning to defeat the Explorers at Lewis and Clark Park Monday 6-5.

Winnipeg scored the two runs without one hit. Two Explorer pitchers Jonathan Rodriquez and Nathan Stewart walked three batters and with an error and sacrifice bunt the Goldeyes pushed across two runs as Stewart took his second loss in the last three days.

The Explorers had rallied from a 4-2 deficit in the eighth inning to score three runs and had taken a 5-4 lead from Winnipeg. With the bases loaded and one out Alberto Espinosa walked to score one run and Leugim Barroso singled to center field to drive in two runs and the Explorers had the lead.

In the ninth inning, the wheels feel off the wagon and two Explorer pitchers ran into control problems which led to win for Winnipeg.

Luke Murton led the Explorers with three hits while Austin Gallagher, Barroso and Sam Judah had two hits each. Judah extended his current hitting streak to seven games.

The Explorers and Winnipeg will meet in the second game of the four-game series Tuesday at Lewis and Clark Park with game time set for 7:05pm.
