
T-Birds Sign F Lowry and D Saucerman to PTO's

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.- The Springfield Thunderbirds announced Thursday that they have signed forward Joel Lowry and defenseman Colton Saucerman to PTO's.
Lowry, 26, join sthe Thunderbirds after putting up 39 points in 33 games this season with the Manchester Monarchs of the ECHL. He is the son of former NHL winger Dave Lowry, who played 1,089 NHL games with Vancouver, St. Louis, Florida, San Jose, and Calgary. His younger brother, Adam, is a current member of the Winnipeg Jets.
Lowry played his collegiate hockey at Cornell, where he was teammates with former Thunderbird Matt Buckles. In 82 career AHL games with Ontario and Utica, Lowry has six goals and 13 assists, to go along with 96 penalty minutes.
Saucerman, 25, will be making his second stint in Springfield, having skated in four games with the Thunderbirds late in the 2016-17 season. The Northeastern University alum has 41 points (5g, 36a) in 57 games this season with the Monarchs, where he was teammates with Lowry.
In 114 ECHL games, Saucerman has 10 goals and 66 assists. He picked up his first AHL point earlier this season with the Providence Bruins. The defenseman also has skated for the Hershey Bears and Ontario Reign in his professional career.
Lowry and Saucerman join the Thunderbirds as they hit the road on Saturday and Sunday for road contests in Rochester against the Americans and in Toronto against the Marlies, respectively.
