
Olympic Gold Medalist Kendall Coyne to Attend Syracuse Crunch Game March 31

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Olympic gold medalist and United States women's national ice hockey team forward Kendall Coyne will be attending the Syracuse Crunch game on Saturday, March 31 when the team hosts the Charlotte Checkers at 7 pm.
Prior to her appearance at the Crunch game on March 31, Coyne will host a free clinic for female hockey players of any age registered with USA Hockey at the War Memorial Arena from 3 to 4 p.m. All participants that attend the clinic will be able to purchase a $16 ticket for the March 31 game that includes a meet-and-greet with Coyne beginning at 6:15 p.m. To register for the free hockey clinic, contact the Crunch office at 315-473-4444. Registration will be open through March 29.
Along with the clinic, Coyne will participate in a ceremonial puck drop during Saturday night's game and sign autographs on the C&S Companies Party Stage during the first intermission.
Coyne, 25, grew up playing hockey at her local rink in Orland Park, Illinois. At 15 years old, Coyne was asked to join Team USA's U-18 team. In 2009, she was invited to tryout for the 2009-10 U.S. Olympic Team, but was cut. Coyne made her Senior National Team debut in 2011, playing in her first IIHF Women's World Championship.
Coyne played four seasons at Northeastern University from 2011 to 2013 and 2014 to 2016 where she graduated with a bachelor's and master's degree. In her final season, Coyne led the NCAA in goals, goals per game, points per game, shorthanded goals and hat tricks. As team captain in 2016, she led the Huskies to their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance and won the Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award presented annually to the top player in NCAA Division I women's ice hockey. She is Hockey East's all-time leader in career points, career goals, single-season points, single-season goals, points per game and goals per game. She also is the all-time program leader in career points and career goals.
Coyne has participated in IIHF Women's World Championships every year since 2011, as well as eight Four Nations Cups and one IIHF Twelve Nations Invitational Tournament Series. Amongst her long list of accomplishments, Coyne holds the all-time leading scorer title for the IIHF U18 Women's World Cup tournament history with 33 points in 15 games. During the 2016-17 season, the 5-foot-2, 125-pound forward also played with the Minnesota Whitecaps.
Her Olympic career began in Sochi at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games where Team USA took the silver medal. Coyne tied as the team's point leader with six (2g, 4a) in five games. In Team USA's gold medal victory at the 2018 Olympic Winter Games in PyeongChang, Coyne tallied three points (2g, 1a) in five games and led the team in shots on goal with 21.
