October 8, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Seattle Thunderbirds News Release

Seattle Thunderbirds general manager Russ Farwell this afternoon announced the team has acquired defenseman Scott Ramsay from the Swift Current Broncos for right wing Robbie Newton.

Ramsay was traded to Swift Current earlier in the day by the Chilliwack Bruins.

"We are happy to be adding a defenseman that brings more experience and a physical presence," said Farwell.

Ramsay, an 18-year-old from Abbotsford, British Columbia, in his third season in the WHL has played 94 career games and has three goals and 10 assists for 13 points with 179 penalty minutes.

Newton, a 15-year-old from Saskatoon, was the T- Birds fourth round selection, 80th overall, in the 2008 Bantam Draft.

The T-Birds next hit the ice on Saturday, October 10, when they travel to Spokane to take on the Chiefs at 7 p.m. They face the Tri-City Americans on Sunday, October 11, at 5:05 p.m. at ShoWare Center. It is anticipated that Ramsay will be available for both of these games.

T-Birds single game tickets for the 2009-10 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.

T-Birds season tickets are currently on sale. Season tickets can be purchased by calling the T-Birds office at 253-239-7825.
