July 2, 2007 - Syracuse plated eight sixth inning runs, rolling to an 11-1 win over the Tides Monday night from Harbor Park.

The Chiefs led 3-1 entering the sixth inning, but Syracuse sent 13 men to the plate in the decisive frame to extend their lead to 11-1. The eight runs scored in the frame were the most against the Tides in any inning this year, and helped the Chiefs to their sixth win in seven games against Norfolk this season.

Ryan Roberts and Wayne Lydon each had two-run hits in the inning, as the Chiefs collected six hits, three walks and a hit batter in the frame.

Andy Mitchell (5-3) took the loss for Norfolk, although Syracuse did most of its damage in the 6th inning off of reliever Victor Moreno. Moreno allowed eight runs on six hits in 0.1 innings of relief.

Luis Hernandez had three singles and scored Norfolk's lone run of the evening, coming around to score on a third inning RBI single by Eider Torres.

Tike Redman had two hits to extend his hitting streak to 14 games, while Mike Cervenak added a hit to lift his hitting streak to eight contests.

Victor Zambrano (3-1) earned the win for the Chiefs, allowing one run on eight hits in 6.1 innings. The veteran right-hander struck out six and walked one.

The Tides and Chiefs conclude their season series with a 7:15 contest Tuesday night from Harbor Park. Tim Kester (4-8, 6.59) takes the hill for Norfolk, with an Independence Day fireworks extravaganza set for after the game.
