
Braves Post League-Leading 11th Shutout

Columbus, OH - The Richmond Braves blanked the Columbus Clippers 4-0 Monday at Cooper Stadium. Three Braves pitchers combined to shutout the Clippers, scattering eight hits as the Braves notched their International League leading 11th shutout of the season and ended a four game losing streak.
The Braves picked up all the offense they would need in the second inning when an RBI single by Corky Miller gave Richmond a 1-0 lead. The Braves added two runs in the sixth on a run-scoring double by Larry Bigbie and a single by Wes Timmons that chased Bigbie home. Richmond tacked on one more run in the eighth on a home run by Carlos Mendez.
Jo-Jo Reyes tossed five scoreless innings to earn the win. Ryan Basner and Will Startup chipped in with two innings of shutout relief each. John Lannan took the loss. Timmons had three hits for the Braves. Larry Broadway had three hits for the Clippers.
The Braves finish their road trip Tuesday at Columbus at 7:05. Kevin Barry will pitch for the Braves against Tim Redding. The Braves return home July 4 vs. Syracuse.
