Louisville Bats News Release

LOUISVILLE, KY-Jesse Gutierrez's solo home run in the bottom of the eighth inning was all the offense the Bats needed as they defeated Indianapolis 1-0 in front of 9,158 Monday at Louisville Slugger Field. The win was their fifth straight and improved the Bats to 8-3 on the current homestand.

The Bats shutout their opponent for the second straight game and haven't surrendered a run in their last 20 innings. Bats starting pitcher Bobby Livingston was outstanding for seven innings, surrendering only four hits and one walk in a no-decision. He faced the minimum number of batters between the 3rd and 6th innings. Jared Burton (1-0, 0.75) earned the win in relief, pitching a scoreless eighth and ninth.

Indianapolis starter Michael Tejera spread out eight hits over six innings while walking one and striking out three. Josh Sharpless (1-2, 3.50) came on in relief and took the loss for the Indians. Russ Johnson led the Indians offensively, going 2-for-3 on the night.

Jeff Keppinger, who is leading the International League with a .370 batting average, led the Bats with three hits. Keppinger is 10-for-23 in his last six games. With the win, Louisville improved to 30-13 when hitting a home run.

The Bats wrap up this 12-game homestand tomorrow night against the Indians at 7:05 p.m. RHP Elizardo Ramirez (1-1, 3.05) will take the mound for Louisville against Indianapolis' LHP Sean Burnett (4-4, 4.16).
