Louisville Bats News Release

Louisville, KY - Infielder/Outfielder Jeff Keppinger and RHP Ricky Stone have been named Hitter and Pitcher of the Month for June for the Louisville Bats.

During the month of June, Keppinger batted .354 (35-99) with eight doubles, eight RBI, 10 walks and nine runs scored. Because of two stints with the Reds and starting the season on the disabled list, Keppinger did not have enough plate appearances to crack the top 10 in batting until mid-June. Keppinger now leads the league with a .362 average and is second in the IL in on-base percentage (.418). He has hit safely in 46 of 52 games and has reached base in 48 of 52 games with the Bats.

Keppinger, 27, was selected to the IL Team for the Triple-A All-Star Game at Isotopes Park in Albuquerque, NM on July 11. Because of the planned birth of his second child, he will not attend the game.

Stone went 1-2 with a 1.42 ERA in 13 appearances for the Bats during the month of June. Opponents batted just .048 against him and he converted all six save opportunities. On the season, Stone is 4-4 with nine saves and a 1.70 ERA. His 39 appearances by a reliever lead the league.

The Hamilton, OH native had his contract purchased by the Cincinnati Reds June 29. Before his promotion, Stone had not appeared in the Major Leagues since 2005 while with Cincinnati where he compiled a 0-0 record and 6.75 ERA in 23 games with the Reds.
