Oklahoma City Comets News Release

At first it looked like a rout, but the RedHawks had to hold on to a 12-10 win over Tacoma Thursday at SBC Bricktown Ballpark.

The RedHawks swept the four game series from the Rainiers and went 7-0 on their homestand. They will travel to Round Rock for four games beginning Friday.

Depending on the results of tonight's late PCL games, the RedHawks could be in first place when they arrive in Round Rock. With their win, Oklahoma is tied for first with Round Rock and Albuquerque. Round Rock is playing at Sacramento and Albuquerque is playing at Fresno. If both lose, Oklahoma would be in first place by one half game.

The RedHawks jumped to a 10-0 lead by scoring five runs in the first and second innings off Tacoma starter Bobby Livingston. The RedHawks had 10 hits, five of which were doubles, in the first two innings.

Manny Alexander went two-for-five with a home run and four RBIs for the RedHawks. Adrian Gonzalez and Rashad Eldridge both had three-hit games.

Oklahoma starting pitcher Derek Lee picked up his fourth win of the season. He pitched a perfect first three innings before giving up four runs in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning.

Albuquerque scored a run off Jose Veras in the ninth inning to make the score 12-10, but Veras was able to close the door for his 15th save of the season.

The RedHawks begin their series with Round Rock Friday at 7:05 p.m. at Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas. The game can be heard over the air on SuperTalk 930 WKY or online and OklahomeRedHawks.com and SportsJuice.com .
