
Zephyrs victorious against the Beavers

Metairie, LA - The New Orleans Zephyrs were victorious against the Portland Beavers on Thursday by a score of 3-1.
Third baseman Rick Short went 4-4 with an RBI to lead the Z's offensively. Short now has seven straight hits and a .395 average in his pursuit of the modern single-season batting record.
Zephyrs reliever C.J. Nitkowski (2-2) picked up the win after a hitless two innings of play. Starter Kip Bouknight had another solid outing, throwing five innings and giving up only one run on five hits.
Starter Brian Sweeney (3-3) recorded the loss for Portland. Sweeney gave up two runs on seven hits in 6.2 innings.
The win gives the Zephyrs a 2-2 series split. New Orleans will go on the road for a four-game series with division-leader Albuquerque beginning Friday. Game time is scheduled for 8:05 PM CT.
