Headlines: RedHawks still a half game back; Dickey delivers win; Lee starts tonight
TODAY'S OPPONENT: The Tacoma Rainiers are the Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. They have been a member of the Pacific Coast League since 1960. Last year, they were 79-63 and finished second in the PCL North.
TODAY'S GAME: The RedHawks continue finish their series and homestand against Tacoma . They will travel to Round Rock for a four-game road trip starting Friday. A win tonight would be the team's eighth in a row both overall and at home. It would be longest winning streak this year. The current seven-game home winning streak is the team's longest this season. The RedHawks are 18-11 in series finales, winning their last five. They are 6-11 on Thursdays. Tonight's national anthem will be performed by Judy Peterson.
STANDINGS: The RedHawks are in third place, one half game behind Albuquerque and Round Rock.
LAST GAME: Starting pitcher R.A. Dickey led the RedHawks to a 9-1 in over Tacoma . Dickey picked up his sixth win of the year by going seven innings and giving up one run on six hits with a walk and four strikeouts. Ian Kinsler went three-for-four and Esteban German had two RBIs for the RedHawks. Catcher Keith McDonald had the second triple of his 12-year career [April 9, 2001 for Memphis against Calgary ].
VS. TACOMA: The RedHawks are 24-23 against Tacoma and 15-8 against them at SBC Bricktown Ballpark all time. Last year the two teams split their series in Oklahoma City. Jason Conti was 6-for-17 [.353] with two home runs and five RBIs against them last year. Both home runs came Aug. 7, 2004 , in a 9-4 loss to the Rainiers .
PITCHING MATCHUP: Oklahoma's Derek Lee makes his 10th start for the RedHawks this year. Lee has quality starts in six of his nine outings, including his last two. In his last four starts, he is 3-0 with a 2.25 ERA [7ER, 28IP], four walks and 13 strikeouts. Lefty Bobby Livingston starts for Tacoma . The RedHawks are 18-19 against lefties this year.
STREAKERS: Outfielder Chris Richard is on a 10-game hitting streak dating back to July 29. He is 19-for-42 [.452] with two home runs and 12 RBIs, raising his batting average from .267 to .296. Richard has hits in 20 of his last 21 games. In his last 21 games, he is 32-for-80 [.400] with four home runs and 21 RBIs, raising his average from .251 to .296. Richard is also on an 11-game home hitting streak ... Second baseman Ian Kinsler is on a six-game hitting streak dating back to Aug. 4. He is 13-for-26 [.500] with six RBIs during the streak, raising his average from .256 to .270 ... First baseman Adrian Gonzalez is on a six-game hitting streak dating back to July 22. He is 12-for-23 [.522] with nine RBIs during the streak, raising his average from .310 to .326. Gonzalez is also on a 13-game home hitting streak, the longest such streak by a RedHawk this year ... Esteban German is on a 12-game home hitting streak ... Relief pitcher Matt Roney is on an 9.2-inning scoreless streak dating back to July 21. He has made nine appearances during the streak, lowering his ERA from 5.06 to 1.25 ... Relief pitcher Jose Veras is on an 8.1-inning scoreless streak dating back to July 18. He has made nine appearances during the streak, lowering his ERA from 3.73 to 3.10. The RedHawks have won the last six games in which Veras has pitched.
SWEEP STATS: A win tonight would give the RedHawks a four-game sweep over Tacoma . The RedHawks have four sweeps this season [three four-game, one three-game]. They swept four-game series with Memphis April 15-18, Colorado Springs May 23-24 and at Iowa May 31-June 3. They swept a three-game series with Portland Aug. 4-6 before Tacoma came to town. A win would make this the second unbeaten homestand in RedHawk history. They swept Las Vegas and Nashville Aug. 17-24, 1999 .
FIRST FOUR: In the last four games, the first four batters in the Oklahoma order have combined to hit .403 [27-for-67] with 14 RBIs and 22 runs scored.
CLUTCH HITTING: During the homestand, the RedHawks are batting .407 [33-for-81] with runners in scoring position. Their opponents are batting .215 [14-for-65] with RISP. The RedHawks have 20 two-out RBIs and their opponents have nine two-out RBIs during the homestand.
PACIFIC CONFERENCE NORTHERN DIVISION: The RedHawks are 12-2 against Pacific Conference Northern Division opponents. The PC North teams [ Colorado Springs , Portland , Salt Lake and Tacoma ] each play four games in Oklahoma City this season and the RedHawks will make return trips in 2006. This season, the RedHawks are batting .351 [161-for-459] with a 3.54 ERA [48 ER, 122.0IP] while out-scoring PC North opponents 104-60. The RedHawks are out-scoring the rest of the PCL 616-567.
ATTENDANCE: Through 57 home openings, the RedHawks have drawn 447,205 fans, an average of 7,845. Last year, they averaged 6,678 fans. In 1998, they averaged a franchise-record 7,221.
DOT-DOT-DOTS: The RedHawks have used 31 pitchers so far this season. They used 30 all of last season ... Jason Botts' seven triples this year ties the single-season RedHawks record set by Kelly Dransfeldt in 2002 ... Esteban German has 30 stolen bases this season, the second most in a season by a RedHawk. The RedHawk record is 32, set by Jeff Picker in 2003 ... Adrian Gonzalez is second in career RBIs by a left-handed hitter in RedHawk history. Gonzalez has 140 RBIs in a RedHawk uniform. Pedro Valdes had 150 in 1999 and 2000.
