
Beavers' homestead highlighted by doubleheader

Longest remaining homestand of the year begins Friday with Triple-A affiliates of Colorado Rockies, Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim making the trip to PGE Park
PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Beavers kick off a nine-game homestand this Friday, Aug. 12, featuring two giveaway nights, a rare doubleheader and a special "Strike Out Breast Cancer" event on Sunday, presented by Health Net.
To open the homestand, the Beavers will welcome young softball players from around the world to Little League Softball World Series Night on Friday, Aug. 12. The Beavers are giving away Khalil Greene figurines on Saturday, Aug. 13, while current Beaver Sean Burroughs nesting dolls will be handed out on Friday, Aug. 19. Both giveaways are for the first 3,000 fans.
"Jimmy Buffett Beach Night" highlights the lone Thursday game of the home stretch on Aug. 18.
As the Beavers continue to help in the fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease, the team will wear pink jerseys that will be auctioned off to highlight the many special activities to take place during Sunday's "Strike Out Breast Cancer" event at the stadium. Funds raised during Sunday's game will benefit The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.

Friday, Aug. 12 COMCAST LATINO NIGHT/LITTLE LEAGUE SOFTBALL WORLD SERIES NIGHT - Beavers vs. Colorado Springs - 7:05 p.m. Latin music from Mariachis Los Gallos, decorations and great prizes highlight Comcast Latino Night ... the Beavers will recognize teams from around the globe participating in the 2005 Little League Softball World Series being held at Alpenrose Dairy this week ... teams from the Phillipines, Canada, Poland, Holland and across the United States will be on hand and in uniform for a special pre-game parade and ceremony.
Saturday, Aug. 13 SCOUT NIGHT/KHALIL GREENE FIGURINE GIVEAWAY - Beavers vs. Colorado Springs - 5:05 p.m. (Doubleheader) The Beavers hold their annual tribute to all scouts, while the first 3,000 fans in attendance will receive a figurine of former Beaver and current Padres star shortstop Khalil Greene ... Saturday's game was originally scheduled for 7:05 p.m., but the two teams will play two seven-inning games to make up for a rain postponement on May 9. The new game time is 5:05 p.m.
Sunday, Aug. 14 STRIKE OUT BREAST CANCER DAY, PRESENTED BY HEALTH NET - Beavers vs. Colorado Springs - 2:05 p.m. The Beavers are teaming up with The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and Health Net to "strike out breast cancer." As the Beavers continue to help in the fight to eradicate breast cancer as a life-threatening disease, the team will don pink authentic jerseys and will be conducting a silent auction before and during Sunday's game, with each of the authentic, game-worn pink jerseys presented to winning bidders following the game. Funds raised at Sunday's game will directly benefit The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Oregon & S.W. Washington Affiliate.

Tuesday, Aug. 16 TACO TUESDAY - Beavers vs. Salt Lake - 7:05 p.m. Tacos are just $1 in the Widmer Garden.
Wednesday, Aug. 17 ZENNER'S DOLLAR DOG WEDNESDAY - Beavers vs. Salt Lake - 7:05 p.m. Zenner's hot dogs are always delicious at PGE Park, especially at the bargain price of $1 per frankfurter.
Thursday, Aug. 18 JIMMY BUFFETT BEACH NIGHT - Beavers vs. Salt Lake - 7:05 p.m. The usual Thursday night fun at PGE Park takes on a tropical theme with Jimmy Buffett Beach Night ... one of two remaining Thursdays on the regular-season schedule.
Friday, Aug. 19 SEAN BURROUGHS NESTIBLE GIVEAWAY, PRESENTED BY TOYOTA - Beavers vs. Salt Lake - 7:05 p.m. The first 3,000 fans in attendance at the final game of the homestand will take home a Sean Burroughs nestible, presented by Toyota ... the collectible features three likenesses, including Burroughs in a Little League World Series uniform, a Beavers uniform and a San Diego Padres uniform.
