| Game No. 107 | Wednesday August 1, 2018 | Frontier Field | Rochester, NY |
| First Pitch 7:05 p.m. | Pregame Show 6:35 p.m. |
LAST TIME OUT: Tyler Austin spent the first 713 games in his professional career with the New York Yankees organization. One day after being traded to the Minnesota Twins, he looked comfortable going up against his former clubhouse-mates Tuesday at Frontier Field.
The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders got on the board two batters into the ballgame when Mark Payton drilled an opposite-field home run for an early 1-0 lead over the Rochester Red Wings. An inning later, Rochester tied the game with an RBI single by Willians Astudillo and from that point forward the RailRiders never led again.
In the 3rd inning, Austin came up to the plate for the second time against his former teammates and delivered a salvo the 6,361 fans in attendance won't soon forget, launching a home run 454 feet out of the stadium and into a parking lot across the street for a 2-1 lead. Rochester added a pair of three-run home runs later in the game from Taylor Motter and Jon Kemmer to finish off the scoring, ultimately claiming an 8-3 win.
Zack Zehner went 2-for-3 with a HBP in the loss, and Luke Voit (1-for-4) notched a single in the seventh inning in his first game in the Yankees organization since being acquired in a trade from the St. Louis Cardinals over the weekend.
SHUFFLING THE DECK: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders continue to have a flurry of roster moves as the calendar moves past the trade deadline. The RailRiders made nine more roster moves Friday and have announced 30 overall between Wednesday morning and the start of Tuesday night's game -- between a quintet of trades and an injury for Aaron Judge Thursday night against the Royals. Overall, it was 76 moves made in the month of July and 206 roster moves announced over the first 106 games of the season.
DOING THE MATH: The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders enter Tuesday's game against the Rochester Red Wings in 2nd place in the I.L. North, 9.5 games behind the Lehigh Valley IronPigs. The RailRiders have 32 games left in their season, and if they were to go 24-8 (.750) down the stretch to reach 80 wins, they'd need Lehigh Valley to play no better than 14-19 (.424) in order to win the division title. Lehigh Valley is 66-41 entering Tuesday and has a .623 win percentage on the season.
GETTING IN POSITION: The RailRiders were 7-5 on April 17, marking the last day they would be on the inside of the playoff cut in the International League for quite a while. It wasn't until July 18 in Toledo that SWB found itself back in the playoff picture (Game No. 94), spanning 82 games and being as many as 6 games under .500 along the way (27-33). Coming into Tuesday, the RailRiders are 1.0 games out of a Wild Card spot behind the Norfolk Tides.
ROLLING THROUGH THE BREAK: Over the last 47G the RailRiders own a 29-18 (.617) record to bring them up to 2nd place in the International League North standings. The RailRiders are 9-0-7 in their last 16 series and they still have not lost a series since dropping 2-out-of-3 games June 5-7 against the Durham Bulls at PNC Field.
REMEMBER BACK...: The RailRiders and Red Wings began a game June 24th that was suspended in the bottom of the 4th inning due to rain. The Red Wings got on the board in the 1st inning on a two-out, solo HR from former RailRider Jake Cave (6), but the RailRiders responded with a Tyler Austin 3R HR in the 3rd inning off former RailRider Dietrich Enns. SWB allowed a pair of runs Monday when the game resumed but hung on for a 4-3 win.
