ROCHESTER, N.Y. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders fell to the Rochester Red Wings 6-2 before a crowd of 5,392 Wednesday night at Frontier Field.

The Red Wings got the scoring start first when took a 1-0 lead against RailRiders starting pitcher Erik Swanson in the home half of the 2nd inning. With two outs, Jon Kemmer doubled and was driven in on a Jordan Pacheco single. Kemmer is 5-for-8 with two doubles, a triple, a home run, seven runs scored and seven RBI in the series.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre countered with a pair in the top of the fourth to push ahead 2-1. Mike Ford led off the inning with a single. Bruce Caldwell followed with a double off former Yankees Minor Leaguer Zack Littell. Wilkin Castillo lined a 1-2 pitch to left-center with two down to plate both Ford and Caldwell for a 2-1 advantage.

That would be the last time the RailRiders led, as Rochester responded with four runs in the bottom of the inning for a 5-2 lead. The final run of the night was put on the board by Tyler Austin who has homered twice off of his former team in the first two games since being traded to the Minnesota Twins. Wednesday's homer was estimated at 421 feet, one night after his 454-footer flew clear out of Frontier Field.

The RailRiders bullpen was excellent in back of Swanson who was tabbed with his second loss of the season for the RailRiders. J.P. Feyereisen entered in the 5th inning and recorded a pair of outs before notching scoreless 6th and 7th innings as well. Over 2.2 innings, he struck out three batters and lowered his season ERA to 2.06. Tommy Kahnle checked in behind him for a scoreless 8th inning, preserving what was a four-run deficit at the time.

Having taken the first three games of the four-game series, the Rochester Red Wings have handed the RailRiders their first series loss since June 5-7 against the Durham Bulls at PNC Field. Over the last 16 series, Scranton/Wilkes-Barre had been 9-0-7 before falling this week.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre and Rochester conclude this series on Thursday afternoon at 12:35 p.m. The RailRiders will have LHP Justus Sheffield (4-3, 2.37) on the mound against RHP Chase De Jong (IL debut). Scranton/Wilkes-Barre returns to PNC Field to start a three-game series against Vladamir Guererro Jr. and the Buffalo Bisons Friday, August 3.
