Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders News Release

ABOUT LAST NIGHT: The game seesawed between the RailRiders and IronPigs before Jose Pirela and Ramon Flores cracked two-run shots. Pirela's put the RailRiders up 5-4 and Flores provided the winning blow in the ninth of a 7-5 final. James Pazos earned his first Triple-A win in relief.

EIGHT IS GREAT: Despite a nearly week-long layoff in the wake of being hit in the head with a fastball, Austin Romine has assembled an nine-game hitting streak. Finishing 1-for-4 on Saturday, Romine has hit .324 (12-for-37) over his run with 12 RBIs. On the season, he has hit nearly 40 points better on the road than at home (.271-.235) with four of his five home runs and 21 of his 29 RBIs.

WAKE UP: Jose Pirela broke a 2-for-28 (.071) funk with a two-run blast to left in the 7th inning. After recording 14 hits in his first five games with the RailRiders (4G on rehab at Cha.), Pirela had two in his prior six games with no runs scored, extra-base hits or RBI.

LAUNCH-A-BALL: Since returning to SWB on June 11, Ramon Flores has clubbed two home runs. Both have come in within the last five games. Through nine games in June, Flores owns a .314 average (11-for-35) with four extra-base hits and six RBI.

WHAT A SAVE!: Reliever Jose Ramirez notched his team-best ninth save. Ramirez allowed a run on one hit with one walk and a strikeout. He fanned the IronPigs' Chase d'Arnaud with the tying run at first to polish off the win. Ramirez ranks in the IL's top 10 for saves, one behind Rochester's A.J. Achter.

STARTING ON TIME: The RailRiders scored two runs in the top of the first. The club is 30-11 when marking the first tally. SWB's .732 win percentage when scoring first ranks 5th in the IL. Buffalo owns the best record when scoring first at 24-4 (.857).

LORD I WAS BORN A GAMELING MAN: Ben Gamel logged two hits as the leadoff man. Thrust into the role after the promotions of Slade Heathcott and Mason Williams, Gamel has hit .316 in 13 games played atop the SWB lineup.

HIT MACHINE: Gregorio Petit finished Saturday 1-for-4. In seven games as a RailRider, Petit has hit .480 (12-for-25) with a .552 OBP, .560 SLG, 1.112 OPS.

GETTIN' FIGGY WITH IT: Since his 0-for-3 day dropped his average to .184 on May 11 at Norfolk, Cole Figueroa has gone 44-for-118 in a span of 31 games played. He ranks 2nd or 3rd in the IL in all four slashes over that time: .373/.422/.525/.947.

ROAD WARRIORS: The RailRiders stand three games below .500 at PNC Field (17-20) and 13 games over on the road (23-10). The team has hit .279 on the road compared to a .259 mark at home. On the road, SWB has scored 170 runs in 33 games (5.1/game). At home, the squad has plated 139 runs in 37 games (3.8/game). The pitching has performed better at home (3.25 ERA) than on the road (3.55 ERA).
