The Louisville Bats used a pair of homers to defeat the Rochester Red Wings 3-2 Sunday at Frontier Field. Danny Santana had two hits and two runs scored for the Red Wings.

After four games in Pawtucket, the Wings will return home to play Charlotte (White Sox) Friday night June 26, with free Wings tote bags and fireworks after the game. Complete promotion details below...

Red Wings starter Pat Dean had lost his last two starts, but still came into the game Sunday ninth in ERA at 3.13. Bats starter Matt Buschmann was making his first appearance with Louisville after opting out of his contract with Tampa Bay last week. Buschmann lost to the Wings May 18 while pitching for Durham. On Sunday, Dean needed just 13 pitches to set down the Bats in the top of first inning.

In the bottom of the first, Santana led off with a double, and moved to third on a ground out by James Beresford. It was the fifth straight game with an extra base hit for Santana. Buschmann made a nice play to snag a hot shot hit by Reynaldo Rodriguez for the second out, but Danny Ortiz delivered an RBI single to put the Wings ahead 1-0.

In the top of the third, Dean forced a lead-off pop-out, but surrendered a solo home run to Ryan LaMarre which tied the score, 1-1.

Louisville's offense continued in the top of the fourth with a lead off single by Hernan Iribarren and another long ball off the bat of Josh Satin that pushed the Bats to a 3-1 lead. Dean retired the next three batters with a swinging strikeout and two ground outs.

Buschmann held the Wings in check, allowing a one-out triple by Rodriguez in the third but only one base runner over the next two innings. In the sixth with one out, the Wings had back to back singles from Oswaldo Arcia and Argenis Diaz; Buschmann got a strikeout and ground out to keep the lead.

Dean worked into the seventh inning, but when he walked two batters with one out Dean was done for the day with Alex Meyer taking over on the mound. Meyer got two fly outs on two pitches to strand the runners.

Dean (5-6) pitched 6 1/3 innings and gave up five hits, three earned runs plus two walks. He struck out five and threw 106 pitches, 69 for strikes.

In the bottom of the seventh, Santana tripled off Buschmann with one out. Beresford lofted a long fly ball to the warning track in left field, allowing Santana to tag and score to make it 3-2 Bats.

Buschmann (7-5) allowed eight hits over seven innings, with two earned runs, one walk and six strikeouts. He threw 101 pitches, 69 for strikes.

Meyer struck out two, allowed one hit, and did not walk a batter in 1 2/3 innings. Caleb Thielbar pitched the ninth for the Red Wings, setting down the side in order.

The Wings had one last chance in the ninth against Jumbo Diaz. Wheeler lined out to Jermaine Curtis at third base, then Eric Farris singled and the Wings had the tying run at first. Pinch-hitter Eric Fryer reached on a fielder's choice, and moved to second on a balk by Diaz with Santana at bat. But Diaz got a ground out from Santana to give the Bats the win, with Diaz recording his second save.

Santana has hit in 11 of his last 12 games, raising his batting average with the Wings to .373. Beresford went 0-for-3 with an RBI, ending his seven-game hitting streak
