Pair of Home Runs Help Bats Get Past Rochester, 3-2

ROCHESTER, NY- With the help of a pair of home runs, the Louisville Bats (34-36) were able to avoid a sweep against the Rochester Red Wings (35-33) by winning Sunday afternoon's game and series finale by the score of 3-2.

The Red Wings struck first as Danny Santana hit a leadoff double in the bottom of the first and was then brought in by a single off the bat of Danny Ortiz.

Louisville tied up the game in the top of third after Ryan LaMarre hit a solo home run to left-center field.

In the fourth, the Bats brought in two more runs after Hernan Iribarren singled to lead off the inning before Josh Satin hit a two-run home run to give the Bats the lead.

Rochester added a run in the seventh after Danny Santana hit a triple and was brought in by a sacrifice fly by James Beresford. It would ultimately not be enough as this would be the final run of the game.

Offensively for the Bats, Iribarren was 2-for-4. Chris Berset was 1-for-3 which allowed him to extend his hitting streak to seven games.For Rochester, Oswaldo Arcia was 2-for-4 and Santana was 2-for-5 on the day.

Matt Buschmann (1-0) was able to get the win on the mound. Buschmann pitched seven innings, giving up eight hits, two earned runs, and a walk while striking out six. Jumbo Diaz picked up the save for Louisville.

Pat Dean (5-6) suffered the loss for Rochester. Dean threw six and one-thirds innings. He gave up five hits, three earned runs, and two walks while striking out five.

Louisville will begin a four game series against Scranton on the road on Monday at 7:05 pm. Dylan Axelrod (3-5, 4.44) will start for the Bats. On the mound for Scranton will be Kyle Davis (5-4, 4.50).
