Wichita Wind Surge News Release
Wichita, KS - Simeon Woods Richardson dealt five shutout innings and Tyler Viza and Austin Schulfer followed to complete the first shutout of the season for the Wind Surge. The Surge defeated Arkansas 2-0 to win their second consecutive game and take a two games to one lead in the series. Wichita improved to 10-8 on the season.
Woods-Richardson threw 79 pitches with four strikeouts, two hits and issued three walks. He improved his season record to 2-1. Woods-Richardson has allowed one unearned run in 21 2/3 innings pitched. Tyler Viza took over for two innings of relief allowing only one hit.
Wichita grabbed the lead in the fourth inning with an RBI from Andrew Bechtold. Spencer Steer smacked his tenth double of the season in the eighth and scored on a Michael Helman single to extend the lead to 2-0.
Arkansas starter Stephen Kolek took the loss allowing one run in six innings pitched.
Austin Schulfer closed the night with a strikeout and secured his third save of the season.
