MIDLAND, Texas - The Frisco RoughRiders banged out 17 hits in a 10-5 thumping of the Midland RockHounds on Wednesday night from Momentum Bank Ballpark.

The Riders (11-6) started their offensive onslaught early when J.P. Martinez slammed a solo homer in the first inning. It was his team-best fourth of the season and his second home run in as many days.

The RockHounds (9-8) answered back in the bottom of the first inning when Devin Foyle brought in a run on an RBI groundout and added on when Jeremy Eierman plated a tally with an RBI single to pull in front 2-1.

The lead did not last long as Frisco tied the game in the top of the third thanks to Jonathan Ornelas. Ornelas doubled and then when he stole third, a throwing error sent him home to tie the game at 2-2.

In the fourth, the Riders pulled away for good. Josh Stowers reached on an error and came in on an RBI single from Sandro Fabian. Following a Matt Whatley single, Ornelas ripped a two-run single to left to balloon the lead to 5-2.

Midland then vollied back with an RBI single from Max Schuemann, but Frisco added another RBI single from Ornelas in the sixth to push their advantage back to three runs. Ornelas tied a career-high with four hits and drove in three on the night.

The eighth inning brought more runs for the Riders. Fabian cranked his second home run of the season, a solo shot, to start the avalanche, before Martinez and Ezequiel Duran plated runs with RBI singles.

The RockHounds fought back with two runs in the bottom of the eighth on a balk and an RBI groundout, but the Riders responded with an RBI double from Justin Foscue in the top of the ninth. All nine Riders hitters reached base in the win.

Avery Weems (1-1) earned the win in his five innings, ceding just three runs, while Ryan Cusick (1-1) took the loss for the RockHounds.

The RoughRiders and RockHounds meet for the third game of the six-game series on Thursday, April 28th at 7:00 p.m. from Momentum Bank Ballpark. RHP Justin Slaten (0-0, 4.00) goes for the Riders against RHP Jack Cushing (1-1, 8.10) for Midland.
