Moncton Wildcats News Release
It's "Support the Troops Night" and the Moncton Wildcats hope to see a solid wall of red in the stands on Friday, January 9th when they host the Gatineau Olympic. The Atlantic Division leading Wildcats are counting on their fans to fill the Coliseum, wearing red, to honour the members of the Canadian Armed Forces.
"Great personal sacrifices have been paid by our Canadian troops in defending freedom," said General Manager Bill Schurman. "With our proximity to a major military base in Oromocto and a Regiment of troops in Moncton, the entire Wildcats organization considers it a unique privilege to salute the men and women, who wear Canada's uniform," he said.
To show their commitment, the Wildcats, have invited 400 members of the military to the game and are looking for the support of residents in Southeastern New Brunswick to come to the game, wear red and show their support.
A moving pre-game ceremony is being planned, to pay tribute to the Forces. In addition there will be a Pipe Band in attendance. Forces vehicles will be on display during the intermissions. There will be special giveaways, an appearance by Juno the Bear and a pre-game prep rally with the Wildcats mascots.
