Grant traded to Cataractes; Néron to Remparts

BOUCHERVILLE, Monday, January 5, 2009 - A few teams made major moves this morning as the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League trade period nears its Thursday deadline. The Saint John Sea Dogs traded all-star defenseman Alex Grant (89-01-20) and a fifth round pick in 2010 to the Shawinigan Cataractes for Danick Gauthier (91-10-24), a second round pick in 2009 and a first round selection in 2010.

The Quebec Remparts acquired defenseman Alexandre Néron (90-05-09) from the Rimouski Océanic for first and third round picks in 2009.

Moreover, the Océanic acquired defenseman Jason Demers (88-06-09) from the Victoriaville Tigres for an eighth round pick in 2009.

The trade period ends on Thursday, January 8, at noon.
