Suns to honor Nora Roberts this Saturday

The Suns will welcome Washington County native Nora Roberts to Municipal Stadium on Saturday, July 23rd. The number-one New York Times bestselling author will participate in a pre-game ceremony and toss out the game's ceremonial 1st pitch before signing autographs for her fans.

The Keedysville, Maryland resident, who also has written under the pen name J.D. Robb, is one of America's most famous authors with her books continually receiving number-one ratings on the New York Times' bestselling list. Her books are easily found in bookstores all across the country helping to solidify her as the "Queen of Romance" writing.

The romance/suspense writer has more than 280 million copies of her books in print. Over the last 23 years, an average of 23 Nora Roberts books are sold every minute.

At of the end of 2004, Roberts' books had spent a combined 90 weeks at #1 on the New York Times bestseller list, including 29 that debuted at that spot. In total, she's had 124 New York Times bestsellers and had spent a total of 632 weeks on the New York Times bestsellers list. Since 1999, EVERY book she's published under the Nora Roberts name has appeared on the bestseller list.

"Our hope is to recognize ALL of her accomplishments on Saturday," said Suns General Manager Kurt Landes. "Not just her literary awards and achievements, but everything that she does quietly for our local community that many area residents aren't aware of."

The Suns game vs. the Lake County Captains will begin on July 23rd at 7:05pm. Pre-game festivities featuring Nora Roberts will begin at approximately 6:45pm. Gates to Municipal Stadium will open at 6pm. Saturday's game will also feature Fireworks (courtesy of U.S. Cellular and Lite 97.5fm) and the Suns final 25th Anniversary free cap giveaway to the 1st 1,000 fans, thanks to First Data.
