Salisbury, Md. - The Hagerstown Suns plated three unanswered runs over the sixth and seventh innings and held the Shorebirds (14-22) scoreless over the final seven innings to win the series finale 3-1 on Sunday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium.

The Shorebirds were first to act in the second inning. Michael Ohlman reached first on an error by shortstop Jason Martinson. After a hit by pitch to Joe Oliveira, Garabez Rosa dropped a sacrifice bunt to put runners at second and third. Then, Adam Gaylord hit a flare single into right field to score Ohlman.

Shorebirds starter Matt Bywater flirted with trouble, but did not allow any runs to cross over five innings. He stranded nine base runners over his five innings on the hill.

The Suns tied the game at 1-1 in the sixth inning against new pitcher Tim Adleman. With one out, Brett Newsome hit an opposite field homer.

In the seventh inning, Kevin Keyes hit a two-out double through the left-center field gap to score Blake Kelso and David Freitas to give the Suns a 3-1 lead.

Suns starter Matt Swynenberg tossed a six-inning gem to earn the win while reliever Shane McCatty held the Shorebirds scoreless over the final three innings to pick up the save. The Hagerstown duo combined to retire the final 11 Shorebirds hitters and 15 of the final 16.

The Shorebirds host the Lakewood BlueClaws in game one of the series on Monday night at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium. RHP David Baker is the scheduled starter for Delmarva.
