Power Falls to The BlueClaws 6-1

HIGHLIGHTS: The West Virginia Power closed a four series against the Lakewood BlueClaws losing 6-1 Sunday afternoon at Appalachian Power Park. The BlueClaws were able to quiet the Power offense and take the final two games of the four game series.

The Power jumped ahead 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning with a solo home run by Elias Diaz.

The BlueClaws matched with a single run in top of the third inning. Anthony Hewitt reached on an error and then stole second base. Hewitt reached third on a ground out and scored on an infield single from Edgar Duran tying the score 1-1.

Lakewood added three runs in the fifth inning to shoot ahead 4-1. Anthony Hewitt hit a two run home run that scored Domingo Santana. The 'Claws added the third run on a single by Carlos Alonso scoring Jeff Lanning.

Zack Von Rosenberg (4-8) started for the Power and pitched five innings picking up the loss. Von Rosenberg gave up four runs on seven hits and struck out four.

Lendy Castillo (3-1) was the winning pitcher for the Lakewood BlueClaws throwing three innings of relief. Castillo struck out three Power batters and only allowed two hits in scoreless relief.

The BlueClaws added two runs in the top of the eighth to pick up a 6-1 victory closing the four game series with each team winning two games.

The Power open a series with the Greensboro Grasshoppers coming to town Monday evening. The first pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. and will be delivered by West Virginia right hander Jameson Taillon. Monday night is Family Buck Night at Appalachian Power Park with $1 tickets, $1 hot dogs and $1 sodas.
