The Suns tied the ballgame three separate times Tuesday night, and took the lead for good on Rich Poythress' RBI groundout in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Jacksonville a 6-5 lead.
Suns starter Justin Nicolino would not factor into the decision after allowing four runs (all earned) on seven hits in 4.2 innings, while walking two Blue Wahoos and striking out one. Greg Nappo would throw 1.1 hitless innings in relief of Nicolino.
Edgar Olmos (W, 1-0) won his first game of 2014, despite allowing a tie-breaking, go-ahead home run to Travis Mattair (HR, 1) in the top of the seventh. Grant Dayton (SV, 2) went the final two innings to earn his second save of the year, allowing just one hit in the process.
Mikey O'Brien (L, 0-1; BS, 1) blew the save in the seventh inning for Pensacola, allowing two runs (both earned) in his 0.2 innings of work.
Joe Benson had a three-hit ballgame in Tuesday's win, with Alfredo Silverio (2-for-5) joining him as the only other Sun with a multi-hit night.
After winning the first two games of the series, Tuesday's win earned the Suns the series victory over the Blue Wahoos. After Friday's ballgame, these two teams still have five more series to play in 2014.
The Suns and Blue Wahoos will be back at it tomorrow afternoon for the finale of this five-game series, with Wednesday's first pitch set for 1:05 p.m. ET. Jacksonville will send the righty Jose Urena (1-2, 6.28) to the mound (0-3, 4.20) on Wednesday, as he's set to be countered by the Cincinnati Reds' 2013 first round pick in right-hander Michael Lorenzen (0-1, 2.20) for Pensacola.
Suns fans can listen to Wednesday's game on the Suns Baseball Network, 94.1 WSOS-FM or throughwww.jaxsuns.com, MiLB.com or the Suns iPhone or Android app, beginning at 12:50 p.m. ET with the Memorial Hospital Suns Pregame Show.
