Suns come from behind for a win

Hagerstown, MD:The Hagerstown Suns came from behind to win for the 12th time this year when trailing heading into the eighth inning. The Suns kept Lexington two games back of first place Delmarva with three games to go.

Rafael Cova earned his first save of the year with a perfect ninth inning in which he struck out two. Matt Durkin notched win number four with three innings of relief. Durkin walked four men and yielded two unearned runs, but benefited from the Suns late inning scoring barage. The Suns bullpen is 4-2, 3 saves, 1.36ERA in the last 10 games. Jose Sanchez started and pitched well until giving up five runs on five hits in the fifth inning.

The Suns got on the board early with an unearned run in the first scored by Carlos Gomez. Matt Fisher and Ambiorix Concepcion went deep for the Suns in the third inning the stretch the lead to 4-0. However, in the fifth Lexington took the lead with five runs, including a two-run single by Drew Sutton and a two-run homer by Justin Humphries. Lexington (38-28) added two unearned runs in the sixth.

The Suns didn't quit, and started to chip away at their 7-4 deficit with a run in the sixth. Hagerstown added another in the seventh on a Carlos Gomez triple and a Jose Coronado RBI single. In the eighth, Kyle Brown smoked a two out triple over the left fielders head, and scored the tying run on a Matt Fisher RBI single. Fisher went to third on a single by Gomez, and later scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch off Legends closer Ryan Thompson. It was the second run scored on a wild pitch by the Suns (27-37). The Suns won their fourth game in a row and 13th out of their last 19.

Saturday is North Hagerstown High School Hubs "Hub Cap Man" Bobble Head Giveaway to the first 1,000 fans, sponsored by American Radiology. The gates open at 6:05pm for the 7:05pm game, and pits RHP Ronnie Martinez for Lexington against the Suns RHP Orlando Rengel.
