Hoover, AL -A pair of three-run doubles by Chris Gutierrez and Ben Lasater helped the Jacksonville Suns (9-13, 46-46) burn the Birmingham Barons (10-13, 50-43), 7-1, in front of 4,143 fans Saturday night at Regions Park.

In the top of the fourth inning, Jacksonville sent ten men to the plate and scored four runs after Gutierrez smacked a three-run, base-clearing double to right field. Kevin Mattison followed with a bunt to third that plated Gutierrez for the final run of the inning, 4-0.

Birmingham added a run in the bottom of the sixth inning when Brandon Short walked and stole second base. Short advanced to third on a groundout by Seth Loman and sprinted home on a sacrifice fly to left field by Jason Bour, 4-1.

The Suns tacked on three runs in the top of the eighth on a three-run double to left field by Lasater that increased their lead over the Barons, 7-1.

Omar Poveda (5-5) garnered the win for the Suns after he yielded one earned run on 4 hits, 3 walks and 5 strikeouts in 6.0 IP.

Charlie Leesman (7-3) received the loss after he surrendered four earned runs on 5 hits, 6 walks and 1 strikeout in 6.0 IP.

The Barons and Suns continue the series with game five of the six-game series at Regions Park with first pitch set for Sunday night at 5:00 p.m. Birmingham sends right-hander Terry Doyle (3-4, 3.54) to the mound and Jacksonville features left-handed pitcher Graham Taylor (2-4, 4.28).
