CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - An early 2-0 lead was washed away by a five-run bottom of the fifth as the Chattanooga Lookouts defeated the BayBears, 5-2, on Saturday night at AT&T Field.

Wes Roemer (6-5) blanked the Lookouts (49-44, 14-9) through the first four innings, but he uncorked a leadoff home run to Griff Erickson in the bottom of the fifth, putting the Lookouts on the board. Ivan Ochoa followed with a walk and was bunted to second by pitcher Will Savage (10-3). Then, Alfredo Silverio unloaded a two-run homer to give Chattanooga a one-run edge.

Chattanooga wasn't done as Jaime Pedroza was hit by a pitch while Scott Van Slyke coaxed a two-out walk to bring up Kyle Russell. Russell drilled a double down the right field line to score Pedroza. Van Slyke came home when Adam Eaton's relay throw bounced away behind home plate.

Savage, Scott Rice and Josh Wall (S, 1) limited the BayBears (55-38, 17-6) to just one hit from the sixth inning through the ninth. Ed Easley had that lone hit when he singled with one out in the ninth inning, but Jake Elmore and Dan Kaczrowski both struck out to end the contest.

A.J. Pollock put the BayBears on top initially as he blasted his sixth home run of the season to start the top of the fourth. Paul Goldschmidt cracked a double to left-center and moved to third on an Easley knock. Elmore's sac fly to right brought home Goldschmidt.

Roemer lasted six frames and allowed six hits while striking out five. Kyler Newby also fanned five in just two innings of scoreless relief.

The BayBears continue their six-game road trip at AT&T Field on Sunday afternoon as they take on the Lookouts at 1:15 central time. Left-hander Patrick Corbin (7-5) will start for the BayBears against righty Allen Webster (2-1). The BayBears are back home on Wednesday, July 20 to open a five-game set with the Birmingham Barons at 7:05 p.m. For tickets, which start at $5 for kids and $7 for adults, please call (251) 479-BEAR or visit www.mobilebaybears.com.
