Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp News Release

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Florida Marlins have announced a transaction that affects their Double-A affiliate Jacksonville Suns roster prior to tonight's game against the Montgomery Biscuits at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville.

Left-handed starting pitcher Graham Taylor has been placed on the disabled list, retroactive to July 30 with a left hamstring strain. Taylor was taken out of Friday's game in Carolina after he fell hard going into home plate on an RBI triple by Kevin Mattison. Taylor was able to stand on his own power after the play, but was eventually carted off the field as he only pitched two innings for the Suns.

Taylor is 2-5 this season with a 4.12 ERA in 20 games and 16 starts for the Suns.

A corresponding move has not been announced, leaving the Suns roster at 23 players, and a revised roster is attached.

The Suns will start a ten-game homestand that begins with a five-game series against the Montgomery Biscuits. The first game of the series on Sunday night will feature "Dog Days of Summer," with fans allowed to bring their dogs to the ballpark for $2.50, and all kids will receive a Southpaw Color-Me Magnet.

Right-handed pitcher Joey O'Gara (6-6, 4.43 ERA) will pitch for Jacksonville against Montgomery's right-hander Jim Paduch (1-4, 5.15 ERA). Sunday's game will start at 6:05 p.m. ET, and fans can listen to the contest beginning at 5:35 p.m. with the U.F. & Shands Pregame Show on Jacksonville's WFXJ AM 930 the Fox and www.jaxsuns.com.
