Stars Pitch Two-Hitter Over Mudcats in Opener

HUNTSVILLE, Al - The Huntsville Stars (54-52) closed out July by throwing a combined two-hitter in the series opener to beat the Carolina Mudcats (39-67), 1-0.

Starter Wily Peralta (9-6) threw a one-hitter through seven innings and got the win, striking out nine batters in the process. Reliever Lucas Luetge allowed the second hit in the eighth, picking up his sixth hold. Robert Wooten got his sixth save with a one-two-three ninth inning.

The only run of the game was a solo shot by Stars clean-up hitter, Steffan Wilson in the seventh inning. It was Wilson's fourth home run of the season.

Carolina starter Justin Lehr had a no-decision in five innings allowing three hits. Reliever Clayton Shunick gave up Wilson's homer and took the loss.

The Stars have now won three straight and will look to carry the momentum into August on "Case of the Mondays" presented by Buffalo Rock.
