Albuquerque, NM - The Space Cowboys plated eight runs in the third inning and held Albuquerque to three hits en route to a 15-0 triumph Thursday night at Isotopes Park.
The Isotopes did not tally an extra-base hit. Jonathan Morales had two infield singles while Wynton Bernard recorded the third hit.
The Space Cowboys took a commanding 8-0 lead in the third inning. They tallied seven hits, including a two-run clout and three-run homer. Sugar Land added a run in the fifth on a Jose Siri homer and one in the sixth on a bases loaded hit by pitch.
In the seventh inning the Space Cowboys' lead grew to 14-0 after plating four more runs. The final tally came in the eighth inning.
Riley Smith was charged with his third loss of the year after he allowed the eight-spot in the third.
Topes Scope: - The Isotopes season-long eight game home winning streak came to an end. It was their longest streak since they won nine in-a-row (Aug. 6-23, 2016) and two away from tying the franchise record from 2009.
-The 15-0 shutout is the second worst shutout in team history (16-0, July 3 vs. El Paso).
-Albuquerque ended June with a 15-11 record-just the fourth winning month for the Isotopes since May 2018.
-The Isotopes closed the month of June with 189 runs-the seventh most runs in a month in franchise history. Offensively the team slashed .282/.357/.536. In all of Triple-A they rank first in homers and slugging, second in runs, total bases and RBI and third in hits and OPS.
-Albuquerque finished with 55 home runs for the month of June-the most in any month in franchise history.
-The Isotopes completed the first half with a 36-39 ledger. Offensively the team slashed .277/.355/.482. In all of Triple-A they rank second in slugging, homers, total bases and hits, third in runs and RBI. On the mound, the team has compiled a 6.98 ERA (647.2 IP, 502 ER). In all of Triple-A they rank last in ERA, runs, hits, WHIP and opponents' batting average.
-Albuquerque has 114 home runs this year-the second-most in all of MiLB behind Triple-A Memphis.
-The Isotopes allowed eight runs in the third inning-the second most allowed this season (9, vs. Tacoma June 17).
-Albuquerque is 0-17 when allowing double-digit runs in a game.
-The 15 runs allowed is the second-most runs relented by the Isotopes this season.
-The Isotopes managed just three hits on the night-tying their fewest in a game this season (six times).
-Albuquerque's season-long 30-game extra-base hit streak came to an end.
-Hunter Brown is the third pitcher this season to throw at least 6.0 innings and not allow a run (Brandon Bielak, May 10, and Jake Kalish, May 18).
-Carlos Pérez threw out a runner attempting to steal in the second inning. It was the first caught stealing by an Isotopes catcher since Dom Nuñez June 11 at El Paso.
-Morales tallied his 13th multi-hit effort of the year. He has back-to-back games with multi-hits and four in his last six.
-Smith has allowed eight runs twice this season and surrendered multiple homers for the fourth time. Over his last two starts, he has relented 14 runs (13 earned).
On Deck: The Isotopes and Space Cowboys (affiliate of the Houston Astros) will play game four Friday at 7:05 pm at Isotopes Park. Albuquerque is slated to start Brandon Gold while Sugar Land is expected to send Peter Solomon to the mound.
