Bees Fall to Rainiers in the 10th

The Salt Lake Bees dropped their second straight extra inning game in Tacoma, as they fell to the Rainiers 5-4 in ten innings on Thursday night. The Bees got an RBI single from Jose Rojas in the first inning, a two run homer by Jake Gatewood in the 4th and Magneuris Sierra scored on a passed ball in the sixth for a 4-0 lead. Tacoma would score two runs in the bottom of the sixth and get back to back homers in the ninth inning from Erick Mejia and Brian O'Keefe off Gerardo Reyes to tie the game at 4-4.

Salt Lake did not score in the top of the tenth inning, but the Rainiers would win it on two walks and an error by pitcher Brian Moran. The Bees would go 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position and are now 0-10 in road games decided by one run. Bees starter Mike Mayers went a season long five and two-third innings and allowed just two runs on three hits with five strikeouts and two walks. Chad Wallach delivered his first three hit game of the season to lead the Bees' ten hit attack.
