Bakersfield Condors News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - Hot off the heels of a two- game series last weekend at home that saw over 14,000 fans pass through the turnstiles, the Bakersfield Condors will host two of the top teams in the ECHL this week. The Wheeling Nailers come to town for a 7:00 p.m. match on Thursday and the Long Beach Ice Dogs show up for a 2:00 p.m. matinee on Sunday.
Thursday's game is a meeting between two first- place clubs, as Wheeling sits atop the National Conference North Division, tied with Toledo with 58 points this season. That night is Student ID Night, sponsored by WB-12, KRAB Radio 106.1 and the University of Phoenix. All junior high, high school and college students can purchase lower level seats for just $1 by presenting their valid student ID to the Arena box office. The final Student ID Night of the season is on March 2nd.
That game is also a THINK Night, sponsored by Catholic Healthcare West, the Department of Health and ARRC Technology. The THINK program (which stands for Turning Hockey Into New Knowledge) is one of two season-long school programs operated by the Condors that rewards students with complimentary tickets to select games through exceptional performance in the classroom. One student will be selected for a drawing at the end of the season to win a brand new computer for their school. In addition, parents may accompany their child to the game and purchase up to two (2) additional terrace level seats for just $5 apiece.
The Condors head to San Diego to battle the Gulls on Saturday night at 7:05 p.m. All games home and away can be heard live on KGEO AM 1230 and online at www.bakersfieldcondors.com. Saturday's game can also be purchased to view online through the B2 Networks link on the Condors official website.
Sunday's match against Long Beach is a rematch of last Saturday's classic comeback at the Rabobank Arena in which Bakersfield overcame a 4-0 deficit to steal first place away from the Ice Dogs 5-4. Everyone that comes to the game will get a free "Year of the Condor" poster featuring five Condors stars, courtesy of Univision, Groove 99.3 and the Body Xchange. After the game there is a "Skate with the Condors" for all season ticket holders free of charge on the Arena ice. Limited skate rental is available for just $5.
The Condors are honoring grandparents on Sunday. Up to two grandchildren will receive complimentary admission with the purchase of a paid grandparent ticket. It's also SBC Smart Yellow Pages Phone Book Recycling Day. Anyone bringing in their old phonebook for recycling will get a voucher for $2 off their admission to the game. Sunday's game is one of the six games included with membership to the Colonel Claw'd's Kid's Club as well. All members receive free terrace admission with their membership card. The Kid's Club is sponsored by Bright House Networks, the Bakersfield Californian, Kern Schools Federal Credit Union and HomeTown Buffet.
The Condors Coach's Show airs regularly every Thursday on KGEO Hot Talk AM 1230 live from the Holiday Inn Select next door to the Rabobank Arena. This week with the game however, there will be a different format. Join the "Voice of the Condors" Kevin Bartl and color commentator and Condors Legend Kevin Barrett on KGEO for phone calls and giveaways, as well as interviews, as they broadcast from the Rabobank Arena press box.
Season tickets, mini-plans and group outings can still be reserved by contacting the Condors office at 324-PUCK (7825) for more information. Individual game tickets are now on sale and may be purchased through the Rabobank Arena box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday. Tickets may also be purchased by phone through at 322-2525, online at www.ticketmaster.com or at any Ticketmaster location.
