Chesapeake Baysox News Release

For a second consecutive night a multi-run lead was washed away by the big inning, as New Hampshire's six-run fifth inning was the difference in a 7-2 Baysox loss on Wednesday afternoon. The loss was the seventh consecutive for Bowie sending the Baysox back to the .500 mark at 29-29.

Baysox starter Zach Davies rolled through his first four innings. He struck out seven batters and allowed just one hit. But working with a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning he allowed a first pitch home run to LF Michael Crouse followed by a first pitch double to SS Kevin Nolan and the rally was on.

Four consecutive hits started the inning. Later in the stanza with two on and two down in a 3-2 game 1B Andy Burns stepped to the plate. He hit a high drive that hit high off the wall over Baysox left fielder Ronald Bermudez. Bermudez thought the ball was a home run but it was not and by the time he recovered and threw the ball in, Burns had slid in safely with an inside-the-park three-run home run.

Bowie could not rally. The Baysox registered one hit in the game after the six-run rally. The loss makes the first seven-game losing streak for Bowie since they lost eight in a row in 2010 from April 24th to May 2nd. Bowie has not been under .500 at any point this season.

The Baysox will look to salvage a game of their series in New Hampshire on Thursday, June 5th at 7:05 p.m. with RHP Tyler Wilson getting the ball. Coverage will begin 20-minutes prior on wnav.com.

Bowie returns home for a six-game homestand Tuesday, June 10th at 6:35 p.m. against New Hampshire. Fireworks will follow the June 13th and 14th games against Harrisburg. For tickets contact the Baysox at 301-464-4865 or order online at baysox.com.
