New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release
MANCHESTER, N.H. - The Fisher Cats scored six times in the bottom of the fifth inning to defeat Bowie 7-2 on Educational Day at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Wednesday. A pair of home runs, including an inside-the-parker helped the team earn his fifth straight win.
Bowie scored the first two of the game off of a Christian Walker double in the fifth but the New Hampshire (23-35) bats showed up in retaliation. Michael Crouse homered to lead off followed by three straight hits from Kevin Nolan, Jack Murphy, and Jorge Flores. With the score tied up at two a piece, Ryan Schimpf grounded into a force out that brought in Murphy to give the Fisher Cats the 3-2 lead. On the first pitch to first baseman Andy Burns, he wailed an inside-the-park, three-run home run to left field to break the game open at 6-2.
New Hampshire would score again in the bottom of the eighth on a double from Matt Newman.
Scott Copeland (5-5) earned the win after 6 innings of work, allowing two runs on five hits. He walked 3 and struck out four. Blake McFarland came in for the final three innings, only allowing one hit to earn his first Double-A save. He struck out three and walked one.
Zach Davies (1-3) took the loss, allowing six runs in 4 innings.
The series with the Bowie Baysox continues Thursday night at 7:05 pm. Stick around post-game for another amazing Atlas Fireworks show. Tickets are available at the team box office, by calling (603) 641-2005, and by visiting www.nhfishercats.com.
