Fightins let lead slip away to Harrisburg

Reading early on looked as if they were going to get a series win until Harrisburg scored five runs spanned across four innings to win 5-4. Colton Murray (0-1) earned his first loss as he allowed his first two earned runs of the season. Reading is now 30-26 on the season.

Peter Lavin helped get the Fightin Phils on the board first for a second straight night as he hit a RBI single off Senators starter Omar Poveda to score Albert Cartwright and give Reading a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning. Brock Stassi hit a RBI single to score Carlos Alonso to extend the lead to 2-0. Aaron Altherr capped off the inning with a RBI double to score Peter Lavin and give Reading a 3-0 lead.

The Fightin Phils scored another run off Poveda in the top of the 3rd inning as Anthony Phillips hit a RBI single to score Peter Lavin who doubled to begin the inning. Reading took a 4-0 lead into the bottom of the 3rd inning.

Harrisburg got on the board off Perci Garner in the bottom of the 3rd inning as Caleb Ramsey hit a RBI single and Kevin Keyes hit a RBI groundout to cut the lead in half for Reading, 4-2. Sean Nicol hit a RBI double off Garner in the bottom of the 7th inning to bring the Senators within one run, 4-3. Harrisburg tied the game at 4-4 off Colton Murray in the bottom of the 7th inning as Cutter Dykstra hit a RBI single. The run was Murray's first earned run allowed as a member of the Fightin Phils.

Harrisburg took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the 8th inning off Murray as Kevin Keyes scored on a wild pitch. Reading loaded up the bases in the top of the 9th inning with one out but didn't score.

The Reading Fightin Phils and Harrisburg Senators wrap up their series on Thursday night at 7:00 pm. The Fightins will have left-hander Adam Loewen on the mound as he'll make his Reading debut.
