Peoples Natural Gas Field - Altoona, PA - 7:00 PM
LAST GAME: The Binghamton Mets hammered a season-high 19 hits in a 15-6 blowout victory over the Altoona Curve on Tuesday night at Peoples Natural Gas Field. The B-Mets set season highs in runs scored and margin of victory en route to ending an eight-game road losing streak and snapping a three-game skid. Five B-Mets registered multiple-hit games with Matt Clark and Kevin Plawecki owning four apiece. Plawecki drove in four and launched his sixth home run of the season. Tyler Pill allowed three runs in the first, but settled down to retire 15 of the final 17 batters he faced for his third win. Binghamton trailed by three before tattooing Zack Dodson for seven runs in the fifth.
BINGHAMTON STARTER: RHP Hansel Robles takes the mound for his ninth start this season and faces Altoona for the second time. Robles earned the win in his last start versus New Hampshire on Thursday, May 29. The righty allowed one run on six hits and struck out five over a season-best 6.2 innings. Robles was rocked for seven runs on six hits, including three homers in his first game against the Curve on May 13. He lasted 2.2 innings, his shortest outing of the season. He was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Mets in August 2008.
ALTOONA STARTER: LHP Joely Rodriguez makes his eleventh start of the season and second against the B-Mets. The southpaw took a no-decision in his last start against the Flying Squirrels on Thursday, May 29. He allowed three runs on seven hits and three walks over 5.1 innings. Rodriguez lost to the B-Mets on May 14, surrendering four runs (two earned) on five hits, while fanning seven over five innings. He signed in March 2009 out of the Dominican Republic.
THE OFFENSE IS BACK: After stranding 31 aboard and going 3-for-30 with runners in scoring position in their three-game series in New Britain, the B-Mets offense erupted for 19 hits and went 9-for-18 with runners in scoring position on Tuesday night. It was the most hits in a game since July 7, 2010, when they had 19 against the Curve at what was then called Blair County Ballpark.
RIGHT BACK ON TRACK: After back-to-back hitless games, Kevin Plawecki unloaded for a career-high four hits on Tuesday. He reached four RBI for the second time in six games. The Indiana native launched his sixth home run of the season, putting him just two shy of his career-high.
VAUGHN VYING FOR .200: After a slow start, B-Mets outfielder Cory Vaughn is creeping towards the Mendoza Line. His three-hit game on Tuesday night was his second in the last six contests.
BEASTS IN THE BULLPEN: Excluding Tyler Pill's relief appearance last Wednesday, the B-Mets bullpen has compiled a 2.27 ERA in the last 25 games. During that span, they've struck out 79 and walked only 23 over 75.3 innings. Binghamton's bullpen ERA for the season is down to 3.09.
BRADFORD BACK ON TRACK: After compiling a 3.77 ERA and allowing an opponent batting average of .311 through his first 12 games, B-Mets closer Chasen Bradford has righted the ship. He's posted nine straight scoreless appearances, while going perfect in his last eight save chances. Opponents have hit .179 during the scoreless stretch.
WELCOME BACK: After piecing things together defensively for nearly a week, the B-Mets were happy to welcome two infielders back to the field on Tuesday. Matt Reynolds returned after missing five games, while Dustin Lawley was activated from the disabled list after missing six games with a left oblique strain.
NEXT GAME PREVIEW: The B-Mets conclude their three-game series against the Curve Thursday night at 7:00 PM. LHP Angel Cuan toes the rubber for Binghamton against RHP Adrian Sampson.
