Duluth Huskies News Release
The Huskies have moved back to the top of the North Division standings on Thursday with a 5-3 win over Bismarck to give the Huskies their sixth consecutive win.
Duluth scored immediately in the first inning when two came into score off the bat of Harrison Moore (Augusta State) when he hit a hard ground ball that caused an error by the shortstop.
Bismarck got right back in the game next inning when Michael Farnell (Murray State) sent a line shot over the wall in right field for a two-run homerun that would tie the game at two.
The game wouldn't stay tied for long when Tony Monroy (Georgetown College) brought in General McArthur (Missouri Baptist) on an RBI single in the bottom of the second inning to put the Huskies back on top 3-2. The RBI would be the ninth for Monroy in his last six games played.
The Larks would not go away as they tied the game again in the third inning but Harrison Moore put them up for good as he collected RBI's in the third and fourth inning to propel the Huskies to a 5-3 lead.
Five runs were plenty for Duluth pitching on Thursday as Andrew Stout (Liberty) delivered with 7 strong innings while striking out six and allowing only three runs. Stout did not allow another hit after the third inning.
The rest belonged to Tim Holdgrafer (Cal Poly Pomona) who slammed the door on the Larks as he retired six out of the seven batters he faced with four of them being virtue of the strikeout. Stout picked up the win to improve to 5-1 on the season, Holdgrafer notched his team-high fifth save in the victory.
Huskies and Larks will do it again on Friday at Wade Stadium in Duluth with first pitch set for 6:35 p.m. The game can be heard on 92.1 The FAN in Duluth.
