Willmar Stingers News Release
Willmar, Minn. - For the second consecutive night the seventh inning was a magical one for the Willmar Stingers in their 8-6 victory against the North Division leading La Crosse Loggers.
Trevor Divinski (MSU Mankato) got the start for the Stingers. Divinski lasted 4.2 innings, giving up 2 earned runs and striking out three. Divinski left the game in the fifth giving Willmar a chance to win.
In the seventh inning, trailing 4-1, Willmar's offense exploded for seven runs. The inning was highlighted by RBI knocks from Eli Wilson (Minnesota) and Nic Hernandez (Cal Poly Pomona). The biggest moment in the inning was courtesy of John Trousdale (Alabama). Trousdale hit a booming two-run homerun over the right field fence making it 7-4 in favor of the Stingers. Willmar would not look back.
In the ninth inning, the Loggers put up a fight. Bo Henning, after two runs scored, went to his pen with two outs and the tying run at the plate. Nick Mears (Sac City) was called upon to get the save for the Stingers. Mears came in and faced off with Shane McGuire (San Diego). The at-bat took 10 pitches, but eventually Mears got McGuire to ground out to end the game.
Willmar now sits a half game out of first place with two more games to go against La Crosse in this four game series.
