Strong Start Gives Nuts 4-1 Win

Stockton, CA. - Carlos Polanco did not allow an earned run. Josh Fuentes homered and the Modesto Nuts snapped a three-game skid with a 4-1 win over the Stockton Ports on Tuesday at Banner Island Ballpark.

Polanco (W, 2-5) worked 6.1 innings for the Nuts (24-41) while giving up just three hits. Polanco surrendered just one unearned run to the Ports (23-42) on a sac fly in the fifth while striking out four and walking two.

Josh Fuentes homered off Casey Meisner (L, 0-11) in the fifth to put the Nuts on the board first. Meisner worked out of the bullpen and tossed three innings allowing just two runs.

Shane Hoelscher delivered a RBI single in the sixth. Three Ports errors in the eighth led to a pair of unearned tallies for Modesto.

Jerry Vasto (S, 10/12) is now second in the league with ten saves after recording the final four outs while striking out three.
