Lancaster JetHawks News Release
LANCASTER, Calif. - Josh James struck out 11 and Ramon Laureano drove in four runs to help the JetHawks snap their five-game losing streak with a 10-5 victory over the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes at LoanMart Field on Tuesday night.
The 11 strikeouts for James (5-2) are the most by any JetHawk hurler this season. His five wins also lead the club. The right-hander allowed six hits, three runs, and walked one, lowering his ERA to 3.02.
The game was scoreless until the fifth, when the JetHawks put up a pair of runs. Luis Reynoso and Johnny Sewald each delivered RBI singles. The Quakes cut the lead in half in the bottom of the frame on a solo homer by Johan Mieses.
A Lancaster error in the bottom of the sixth helped lead to two Rancho Cucamonga runs, as the Quakes took their one and only lead of the game. Matt Beaty had an RBI ground out.
The JetHawks surged in front for good with a four-run seventh inning. Laureano's RBI ground out tied the game, 3-3. Bryan Muniz put Lancaster in front with an RBI single and Aaron Mizell expanded the lead with a two-run single.
Laureano was key in providing Lancaster with insurance runs in the final two innings. His two-run homer, his fifth of the season, highlighted a three-run eighth. He added an RBI single in the ninth.
Ryan Thompson recorded the final five outs of the game for the JetHawks out of the bullpen.
The JetHawks have the day off on Wednesday before opening a seven-game road trip and the first of a three-game series with the Visalia Rawhide on Thursday night at Recreation Park. Trent Thornton (2-2) will start for Lancaster. First pitch is 7:00 p.m.
