Lancaster JetHawks News Release

LANCASTER, Calif. - The Lancaster JetHawks and the Antelope Valley Boys & Girls Club announced a partnership today to bring a Youth Baseball League to Lancaster in 2017. The league will be for local underprivileged youth, who would not otherwise have the opportunity to play team sports. The participating kids will be outfitted with baseball gear, taught the basics of baseball, and have the chance to play their games at The Hangar, home of the JetHawks, all at no cost to the child. To support the league, the JetHawks are excited to announce the creation of the Lancaster JetHawks Baseball Foundation which will host numerous fundraising events throughout the year at The Hangar.

"We are proud to unveil our new Foundation, and continue to expand our community outreach efforts throughout the Antelope Valley with the creation of the JetHawks Youth Baseball League," said JetHawks Executive Vice President Tom Backemeyer. "We are thrilled to partner with the Boys and Girls Club to help provide an amazing opportunity for their kids. Our hope is this league will provide life-long memories and experiences for hundreds of kids each year."

"For many of our Club members, this will be their first opportunity to participate in an organized sport," said Jay Duke, Chief Professional Officer of the Boys and Girls Club of the Antelope Valley. "We are grateful to the JetHawks Foundation for this opportunity and our continued partnership."

Using the pillars of hope, opportunity & self-development, the newly founded Lancaster JetHawks Baseball Foundation is dedicated to helping as many Antelope Valley youth as possible through the creation of the Youth Baseball League, and the unveiling of several other initiatives throughout 2016 and beyond. Through the support of the City of Lancaster, the Foundation will operate in conjunction with the Lancaster Community Services Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit, with all money raised by the JetHawks going to benefit local initiatives including the Youth Baseball League.

The Lancaster JetHawks Baseball Foundation will host several fund raising events in 2016, including a 50/50 Raffle at select JetHawks Games, a Mystery Ball Raffle on August 6, Root Beer Float Night on August 14, and a 20th Anniversary Jersey Auction on September 5. Fans are welcome to make tax-deductible donations to the Baseball Foundation at the JetHawks offices throughout the year. Members of the community are encouraged to get involved with the JetHawks Youth Baseball League through team sponsorships and volunteer opportunities. Contact the JetHawks for more information.
