Gwinnett Stripers News Release
SYRACUSE, NY - The Gwinnett Stripers broke open a scoreless game with a four-run top of the eighth inning and beat the Syracuse Chiefs 4-0 Friday night in the opening game of the three-game series at NBT Bank Stadium.

Kazmar was caught in a rundown between first and second and was tagged out on the play, but Peterson was able to cross the plate for a 3-0 lead. Chris Stewart followed a single to left scoring Avery from third for a 4-0 lead.
Collins (L, 2-4) tossed 1.0 inning with six hits, four earned runs and one strikeout. Chris Smith went 1.0 inning with one hit. Valdez struck out six and walked one over his 7.0 scoreless, seven-hit frames.

Peterson went 2-for-5 with a run scored and an RBI to extend his on-base streak to 25 games. Ruiz, Kazmar and Stewart each added two hits, with Kazmar recording the 499th and 500th hits of his Gwinnett career.
