Today's Game

This evening, the Bisons take on the Toledo Mud Hens in the first game of a three-game set. The Bisons are in the latter part of their second-last homestand of the 2018 season. After completing the homestand, the Bisons travel to Charlotte for a three-game series August 13-15 before visiting Gwinnett 8/16- 8/19 for a four-game series to conclude a seven-game road trip.

Last Game: BUF 5, GWN 9

LHP Matt Tracy struck out five Stripers over five innings of work while surrendering a single run on six hits. It was the lefty's sixth no-decision in seven starts with the Bisons. OF Dwight Smith Jr. doubled and also had a two-run home run in the losing efforts while 3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit his second Triple-A home run. 1B Rowdy Tellez and INF Tim Lopes also had multi-hit games in addition to Smith Jr and Guerrero Jr.

Toledo (1-2)

The Bisons and Mud Hens last played each other June 5-7 at Fifth Third Field in Toledo, OH. The Bisons managed to deny the sweep with a 9-5 victory which included a five-RBI day from C Danny Jansen. Jansen has four hits in fourteen at-bats (.286 AVG) with six RBIs in three games against the Mud Hens.

Today's Starter: Zach Stewart

RHP Zach Stewart will make his second spot-start of the season for the Bisons tonight. Stewart's lone start on the mound came on July 29 in Indianapolis where he gave up one run over five innings for the victory.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr.

3B Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 2-4 in the loss on Thursday. The young slugger crushed his second Triple-A home run, second in consecutive games. Guerrero Jr. now has twelve hits in nine games with the Herd to go along with his eight walks (.462 AVG and .571 OBP). In 74 combined games this season, he has 30 strikeouts and 30 walks.

Dwight Smith Jr.

OF Dwight Smith Jr. went 2-4 in yesterday's loss to Gwinnett. The left fielder hit a two-run home run in the third inning to give the Bisons a 3-1 lead, and added a double in the eighth inning. Smith Jr. would score his second run of the game to cut the Herd deficit to 8-5 in the inning. Smith Jr. had three hits and a walk in two games against the Stripers.

Transactions

On Thursday, LHP Thomas Pannone was promoted to Toronto.

Hall of Fame

This evening, former Bisons' manager Marty Brown and former pitcher Joe Roa will be inducted into the Buffalo Baseball Hall of Fame.

Rowdy Tellez

1B Rowdy Tellez was 2-3 with a walk on Thursday. The first baseman has hits in nine of his last ten games including six multi-hit games. Tellez was 21-68 (.309 AVG) in 19 games during the month of July and is 13-29 (.448 AVG) through nine games in August.

Blue Jays Update

Toronto (52-62) salvaged the final game against the Boston Red Sox with a 8-5 win over the division leaders. LHP Ryan Borucki picked up his second Major League victory in five innings of work. OFs Teoscar Hernandez and Randal Grichuk both homered on the night. The Blue Jays continue their home stand as they host the Tampa Bay Rays for a three-game series. RHP Marco Estrada is set to square off against LHP Blake Snell in the opener (7:07 p.m.).
