Streaks Ended In Tourists 9-2 Win

(Charleston, WV) Dan Houston tossed six solid innings and Kiel Roling hit his third homerun in as many games as Asheville ended their four-game losing slide with a 9-2 victory on Wednesday night. The Tourists took advantage of five Power errors and seven walks to end West Virginia's ten game winning streak. With the win Asheville pulled back to one game up in first place over Augusta who was rained out against Savannah earlier tonight.

Asheville took a 2-0 lead after loading the bases on a walk, error and single to begin the game. Kiel Roling and Jimmy Cesario drove in the first two runs of the game with consecutive sacrifice fly outs. The Tourists took a 4-0 lead in the third inning beginning with a Scott Robinson double. Delta Cleary then singled to right as the ball was bobbled, Robinson scored form second base. Cleary game around to score on the first triple of the season for Jimmy Cesario.

Dan Houston (7-8) earned the win with six innings and one run allowed. Houston walked four and struck out six in the victory. West Virginia scored their lone run off Houston in the fourth inning. After consecutive walks to Kyle Morgan and Calvin Anderson, Bobby Spain hit an infield single to load the bases. Danny Bomback followed with a single to right field to score one run and Tyler Massey threw out the runner Anderson trying to score from second base. Houston then picked up a double play to end the inning.

Asheville added one more on two walks and an error in the fifth inning and another run on Roling's team-leading 17th homerun of the season in the seventh. The Tourists got two runs in the eighth when David Christensen scored on a Tyler Massey triple. Massey then came in on a sacrifice fly form Carlos Martinez- one of four sacrifice fly outs in the game for Asheville.

Stephen Dodson tossed two innings and allowed one unearned run and Isaiah Fronberger struckout the side in the ninth for the 9-2 win. Asheville will go for the series split with Jonathan Aristil (2-8, 5.14) on the mound at 7:05 from Appalachian Power Park.
