Rome Emperors News Release

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves defeated the Charleston RiverDogs 2-0 in a muggy Wednesday night affair in front of 1,822 fans at State Mutual Stadium. The Rome pitching staff held Charleston to just four hits.

The Braves wasted little time as they scored a run in the bottom of the second inning. Calvin Culver reached second base on a fielding error by the Charleston right fielder. A single up the middle by Matt Kennelly scored Culver giving Rome a 1-0 advantage.

One inning later Rome would add to their lead when Ryan Barba led off with a double to left and moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Shayne Moody. Joel Campusano would then add a sacrifice fly to plate Barba and give the Braves an eventual final of 2-0.

Dimasther Delgado (4-6) earned the win for Rome tonight in a stellar performance. Delgado pitched six and two thirds innings, gave up only two hits, while striking out five. Trent Lare (2-3) takes the loss for Charleston. Matthew Small (4) earns the save.

The Braves and the RiverDogs continue their three game series tomorrow with Mike Minor, Atlanta's 2009 first round draft pick, scheduled to start his first professional game. For ticket information call 706-378-5144 or log onto www.romebraves.com.
