Lincoln Saltdogs News Release
WICHITA, Kan. -- The Saltdogs (37-25) rallied with two out in the 10th to beat the Wichita Wingnuts (40-23) 4-3 in front of 3,266 fans at Lawrence-Dumont Stadium Monday night.
Lincoln has won 20 of its last 25, and leads the Central division by 5 1/2 games over Gary.
With two down in the top of the 10th, Dainer Morera slices a single through the right side of the infield for his fourth hit of the night.
Ryan Wiggins followed by sending a soaring fly ball down the right field line, which tucked into the corner for a go-ahead RBI triple.
Clayton Cook (1-0) struck out the side in a dominant ninth inning to earn the win. All Star closer Evan Reed walked two in the 10th but struck out two to notch his 15th save.
Lincoln scored three runs on six hits in the third inning. Wichita rallied for two in the fourth after a lead-off walk.
The Saltdogs wrapped out a season-high 17 hits, 16 of which were singles before Wiggins' game-winning blow.
Lincoln has 57 hits through four games on their road trip (3-1).
Wichita tied the game at 3-3 in the eighth, and Lincoln was unable to capitalize on consecutive singles from Austin Darby and Brandon Jacobs to begin the ninth.
Wichita's All Star closer Frankie Reed (4-3) was strapped with his second loss against the 'Dogs, allowing a run on four hits in two innings.
Ryan O'Sullivan pitched seven sterling frames, allowing two runs on just four hits with five strikeouts and a walk for Lincoln.
The Saltdogs have won four of five at Wichita so far in 2016, and begin a stretch of 11 consecutive games against the American Association's other division leaders with an extra-inning win.
