Storm's Mustukovs Named Rbk Hockey Goalie Of The Week

PRINCETON, N.J. - Toledo Storm rookie Ervins Mustukovs is the Rbk Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Jan. 22-28.

The 22-year-old was 2-0-0 with one shutout as the Storm extended their win streak to five games to move within two points of North Division leaders Trenton and Cincinnati. Toledo signed Mustukovs after the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League reassigned Mike Brodeur, who won the award last week, to the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League on Jan. 25.

The native of Riga, Latvia stopped all 41 shots he faced in his first ECHL game posting a 2-0 win at Dayton on Jan. 26 and then on Jan. 27 he stopped 35 of 38 shots in a 5-3 win at Reading. The 6-foot-2 and 175-pound Mustukovs ended his first week in the ECHL with a goals-against average of 1.50 and a save percentage of .962.

Mustukovs began the season in the Southern Professional Hockey League where he was 7-4-1 with a goals-against average of 3.23 and a save percentage of .906 in 13 games for Knoxville.
